  1. Current Employee, less than ane year

    Pros

-Some Kids Are Great -Teaching Staff Extremely Talented

    Cons

The time commitment is WORSE than any regular public schoolhouse. All the teachers working at that place come up from regular public schoolhouse districts (not lease) and it was ever a consensus that the amount of time expected to be dedicated to the schoolhouse was outrageous. Teachers have to be at the school earlier 8 o'clock and have to stay until 5 o'clock in the evening. That is just a regular form day, not including time after schoolhouse for spontaneous mandatory meetings or prep fourth dimension for the following day. Teachers are expected to walk their students a distance of over 2 blocks in the street to a public park for recess. A park that has frequently had a homeless people and individuals doing drugs in it when the students go far. Absolutely no financial support for teachers every bit far as resource. No text books, no work books, no projectors, and not enough laptops for kids. This is extremely problematic considering the school says that their laptop is their "textbook"..aka the net. Students take to supply the teacher with copy paper, since schoolhouse does not do that. Teachers spend several hundreds of dollars purchasing classroom infrastructure that even the poorest public schools have. Classrooms take 3/4 walls, so teachers take difficulty pedagogy because they can hear all of the other classrooms around them. The walls in your classroom do not go up all the style to the ceiling. This school happily accepts All the students that take been unsuccessful or take had problems in the county school district. That ways that at whatever given time a teacher will accept 5 or half-dozen students in their classroom that have special needs, and the instructor volition not become whatever support. Half of the schoolhouse is special-needs, and just 1 special ed teacher bachelor. No advisor. No nurse. No gym. No electives other than music and sometimes "fine art". Students with severe behavioral problems are thrown into a regular classroom with no communication to the teacher almost diagnosis or medication. Teachers are expected to service the students with no special training or a behavior unit of measurement in the school present to deal with problems. Students that belong in beliefs or mental institutions are not referred to them in a timely mode because the chief wants to keep as many students in the school due to funding. Teachers are physically assaulted past students and the principal does nil. Teachers are held responsible for students not performing well academically, when half of the students in every class are more than 2 or 3 grade levels behind in reading and math. Teachers are expected to run schoolhouse events exterior of school during evenings and nights with no extra pay. If you calculate the amount of hours y'all piece of work equally a instructor, compared to the pay, you are getting paid less than minimum wage as a teacher. Principal enjoys berating previous employees who were smart enough to get out as soon as they started seeing how things were. Raises to the teachers are promised per performance, only when the fourth dimension comes teachers are given the run around. Teachers who they think are gonna quit are given special bonuses, but teachers talk amongst themselves and know the disparity. At that place is an extremely high turnover rate for teachers. Classes volition have multiple teachers throughout the year. Teachers falling into depression, anxiety, and illnesses due to the high-stress environment halfway through the year is very common, and main gives them self-help books instead of classroom support. Mold growing inside edifice, so bad you can SMELL it.
